Chrome OS

This is my answer as a comment to the article of the previous post about Chrome OS.

I use computers since 1997. Although i use ubuntu linux i will have to agree with dza because there are so many distros out there but i will have to agree with Dan too because to be honest back in 2003 i was using a windows machine as a desktop and a RedHat machine as a server but despite all the RedHat efforts to use it as a desktop computer too it failed and i am not speaking for my self only but for many network engineers here in Greece. Most of us really replaced our desktop computers from windows to linux with the ubuntu distro! The actual difference now between Chrome OS and all other OS is that nothing is stored in ur machine but on the Google "cloud" as they said. The blondie girl next door who browse the internet listen to songs and chat all day will fit pretty well on a Chrome OS. But that is all she is doing on a computer and with Chrome OS that is all she WILL be doing on a computer. I believe that ALL of us who have approximatly a Terra filled with private stuff (music, projects, apps, movies) will never use actually a Chrome OS machine because we will all need to have our OWN things in our OWN computer in our OWN disk. Also i don't think it is a matter of privacy more than a matter of usage because apps offered by a normal OS and not by Chrome OS are a daily need for users like me. Engineers.. web developers.. network engineers.. even the designer arround the corner who makes stickers in photoshop. Chrome OS will bring more people to the computer world but when they will decide to do the next step from just.. chatting and viewing articles they will use a normal os like windows or linux. Microsoft will stick to what they know best.. to make an OS stupid enough for the people who are afraid of linux and want more than just browse the web. Linux will be for the more experienced until a distro probably ubuntu will get so publicly known that will go side by side with windows. This is how it is and how it will be. As much as a user is getting more experience he will want more and Chrome OS offers only the beggining which is good for getting the world more computerised than it is today.
